Boréal
Boreal is a series of illustrations devoted to the preservation of the Canadian Boreal forest in face of Canada’s devastating fossil fuel sector. Growing up on the Pacific Northwest instilled a strong sense of respect for the land and sea and all the living beings found within them. I learned that all matter is sentient, and it possesses a story of how it came to be. Through the power of visual allegory, I illustrate complex mises-en-scènes where the flora and fauna band together to fight against the greed, injustice and destruction imposed on their habitat by the effects of a natural resource based economy. Boreal highlights the resilient and uncompromising spirit of the natural world. Boreal is a series about nature worship, small visual prayers for the living.
